BioCanon: Buffy the Vampire Slayer (T.V. series)
Timeline: A year or so post-finale; after the dissolution of her relationship with Robin Wood, but before any of the events in the Season 8 comic series.
History: Abused and neglected by criminal, alcoholic parents. Called to be a Slayer at age 18 through a bizarre set of circumstances that led to two living Slayers. Clashes initially with Buffy only mildly; their more base differences became apparent when Faith kills a human on accident, but shows no remorse. Downspirals, leading to joining forces with the Mayor and winding up in a coma at Buffy's hand. Awakens from said coma bent on revenge; switches bodies with Buffy and wreaks havoc upon her life, tries to kill Angel, kidnaps and brutally tortures her former Watcher, Wesley. Thanks to Angel's refusal to give up on her, turns herself in for her crimes. Keeps in touch with him until he's overtaken by Angelus, at which point she breaks out of jail. Helps re-ensoul him, travels back to Sunnydale. Helps defeat the First. Ends the series with a boyfriend, most of her relationships healed, the burden of being the Slayer now shared with every Potential on earth.
Personality: Faith is distrustful of authority figures, and with good reason; both of her parents were abusive and later imprisoned, two of her Watchers have betrayed her, and the man she viewed as a father figure was clearly psychotic. Really, she doesn't trust anyone - least of all herself. Faith is in a constant battle between her killer instinct and her sanity. She's single-minded to the point of recklessness, diving headfirst into the pool without first checking to be sure that it's full. While her outer personality is often abrasive and off-putting, it's clear that the young Faith from her stunted childhood lurks somewhere beneath the surface. She's like anyone else in that she desperately wants someone to love, to trust, but often she doesn't feel that she deserves such things. Angel has come the closest to seeing the true Faith; she relaxes in his presence, allows herself to be more open and vulnerable. He is the one person that has stood by her and believed in her despite the unspeakable things she has done, and in return, she has learned to accept, if not depend on, his continued support. One of her most interesting and complicated relationships is with Wesley. Their histories, the people they came to be, are unavoidably tangled up in one another, and they are remarkably similar. Both growing up with abusive and neglectful parents, both divulging from the straight and narrow thanks to a perverted sense of justice, both committing heinous acts upon others, both reformed and now in somewhat of a state of limbo. Their relationship with one another - he betrayed her when she needed someone most, she tortured him for hours - is the most interesting now that they're both on equal ground for once, opening up brand new doors.
Appearance: Medium height, muscular physique, wavy brown hair, dark brown eyes, barbed-wire tattoo on right arm, penchant for leather.
Skills: Heightened senses, prophetic dreams, incredible strength and agility, and rapid healing, all due to being a Slayer.
